Twitter

I really don't get this one. I kept thinking I must be missing something, there had to be more to it than I was seeing....but...apparently not. I wasn't sure what people were talking about so I clicked on some of the tweets thinking I'd get more info, I didn't. Honestly, I wouldn't use this.

Library Thing

At first glance I didn't see a lot of benefit to this website. I could search for a title and try to find a review on it, but I can get better book reviews from Amazon. What I did like was the recommended titles that came along with it. It's a workable way to find titles in your selected topic.

Google Docs

The online tools like Google Docs, I think will be replacing MS Office products. There are people out there who don't have their own computers, or a place to store documents, so I can only see these applications becoming more popular.

You Tube

I don't think I'd spend a large amount of time on You Tube. Where it would be useful to me is in the how-to area. If I needed to see how something is done, like building something or seeing how to cook or bake a dish...that is where the usefulness of this site appeals to me.

RSS Feeds

Once I got the hang of it, it seemed quite straightforward to set up and subscribe to RSS
Feeds. I think what I like about this is the one stop shopping approach to information gathering. It appears to significantly cut down the time spent jumping from website to website...I like that.

Google Products

I looked at Google Books and read online from "Kids Who Laugh: how to develop your child's sense of humor". It interestingly points out that humor is a learned response acquired largely through demonstration and observation. Kids learn what is funny from parents, other kids, media and society. This was interesting as you can search full text of books or magazines. To find magazines click on advanced search, type in search terms and the title results are displayed. The results seemed straightforward and search terms were hi-lighted and easy to find. I think I may supplement my Ebscohost search with this product. I also liked the layout as things appeared very user friendly.

What about Facebook?

For me, Facebook is more commitment than I care to have at this moment. I could see myself wasting hours of my life on sites like these and the draw could become obsessive. I think I'll just stick to the phone or heaven forbid...talking to a person face to face.

Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump

I'd just been reading about Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump so I thought this was a good article to edit. I changed a couple of numbers in the early part of the article and added a sentence at the end of the paragraph. It was so easy. I'm surprised there isn't more tampering, because it's easy to do. I did consider doing a topic Wikipedia didn't cover, but there wasn't enough time. I can be difficult to fit this in if you're on the desk.

Delicious

I'm very comfortable using the Best Websites. It's a format I'm familiar with. Sometimes it can be a bit daunting because of the sheer bulk of info you could look through, but I think it's laid out in an understandable and usable way.

My Comfort Level

I liked Maureen's 2.0 question/comment...Does blogging and being tech world savvy mean that people will cease talking to each other? Really just using e-mail and texting takes the personal touch out of face to face meeting. I tend to learn and remember better if someone speaks to me. However, more and more people are ok with the cyber world. It just shows the only constant in this life is change, so I better keep up.

CPL 2.0

I really hope I can, with confidence, use the training I receive to answer customer queries. I'm so glad we're getting this training now...an absolute must.

Oh boy I hope I'm doing this right

I'm now feeling very much like I felt some years ago when I first learned to use the mouse and to navigate through the internet. Some things seem confusing and I'm unsure if I'm doing this right but here goes. As I understand the bigger picture, I'm confident I'll be able to navigate through the maze and become a true "bloggin fool".
